Vellum Daily aims to publish accurate information. When we get something wrong, this policy explains how we fix it.
How to report an error
Email hello@vellumdaily.com with “Correction” in the subject line. Include a link to the article and a short explanation of what is wrong. Links to sources that show the correct information help us verify the report faster.
What we do with reports
An editor reviews every correction report. If the report is correct, we update the article as soon as practical. If we cannot verify the claimed error, the article stays as published, and we may add context if the point is genuinely disputed.
How corrections appear
Significant corrections are noted on the article itself, in a visible correction note that says what changed and when. Small fixes that do not change the meaning of a story, such as spelling or formatting, may be made without a note. We do not silently rewrite published articles to hide errors, and we do not delete published stories to avoid correcting them. In the rare case a story must be removed for legal or safety reasons, we leave a note explaining that it was removed and why, unless we are legally barred from doing so.
Updates to developing stories
News changes. When a developing story is updated with new information, the article shows its latest update time, and major developments are reflected in the text rather than left contradicted lower in the same article.
