Editorial Policy

Last updated: November 2026

This policy explains how Vellum Daily gathers, verifies, and publishes news. It applies to every section of the site.

Accuracy and verification

We work to verify facts before publication using primary sources wherever possible, including official documents, direct statements, data from the organizations that produce it, and on-the-record interviews. When a fact cannot be verified, we either leave it out or make clear to readers that it is unconfirmed.

Sourcing

Our articles identify their sources by name wherever practical and link to source material so readers can check our work. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is important, the source has a genuine reason to stay unnamed, and an editor knows the source’s identity.

Use of AI tools

Vellum Daily uses AI-assisted tools in parts of its editorial workflow, including research support and early drafting. No AI-generated text is published as-is. Every article is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human editor before publication, and a human editor is responsible for everything we publish. AI systems never publish to this site on their own.

Opinion and labeling

News reporting, analysis, and opinion are different kinds of content. Analysis and opinion are labeled as such, and opinion reflects the views of its author, not of Vellum Daily as a publication.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Our coverage is not for sale. Advertisers and sponsors do not review, approve, or influence editorial content before publication. Writers disclose relevant financial or personal interests to their editor, and we do not accept gifts or payments in exchange for coverage.

Corrections

When we make a mistake, we correct it openly and note the correction on the article. See our Corrections Policy.
