Trevor Lawrence threw for 242 yards and a touchdown, Jacksonville’s defense intercepted rookie Joe Fagnano twice, and the Jaguars rolled past the Baltimore Ravens 33-10 on Thursday night at a rainy M&T Bank Stadium.

A fast start in the rain

Jacksonville set the tone on the first possession. Lawrence hit rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher for 52 yards, and Bhayshul Tuten finished a seven-play, 77-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Baltimore answered with a 53-yard field goal from fill-in kicker Jake Moody, but Cam Little restored the seven-point cushion with a 36-yarder late in the first quarter. The Ravens leaned on Derrick Henry in wildcat looks to take pressure off their young quarterback, yet the offense never found a rhythm.

One throw breaks the game open

Baltimore stayed within two scores for most of the half, and its defense kept Jacksonville out of the end zone after the opening drive. That changed with 58 seconds left before halftime. Lawrence found Parker Washington behind a blitz for a 50-yard touchdown, and the Jaguars took a 17-3 lead into the break. Lawrence threw for 197 of his 242 yards in the first half. Fagnano, by contrast, managed just 30 passing yards before halftime.

Fagnano’s first start turns into a long night

Fagnano, an undrafted rookie from UConn, was starting because Lamar Jackson is on injured reserve with a thumb injury that needs surgery and backup Tyler Huntley is out for the season with turf toe. His second half opened with an interception by Montaric Brown on the third play, on a throw intended for Zay Flowers, and the pattern held. Baltimore’s second-half drives went interception, punt, punt, turnover on downs, interception, with Jourdan Lewis grabbing the second pick early in the fourth quarter, again on a ball meant for Flowers. Fagnano finished 10 of 18 for 60 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Baltimore also lost All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton to a hip injury, and a fumbled kickoff return in the fourth quarter handed Jacksonville another short field.

Little made the Ravens pay for every mistake, going 4 for 4 on field goals through the rain, from 36, 45, 47 and 33 yards. Chris Rodriguez Jr. added a 2-yard touchdown run on a wildcat snap to make it 33-3, before Justice Hill gave the home crowd one cheer with a 65-yard touchdown run. Henry passed LaDainian Tomlinson to move into seventh place on the NFL career rushing list, a milestone buried in a miserable night.

What it means

Jacksonville improved to 6-2 and tightened its hold on first place in the AFC South, winning with defense and field position on a night when the weather begged for mistakes. Baltimore fell to 4-5 with a fourth straight loss, and its quarterback room is the whole story. The Ravens are finalizing a trade for veteran Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, a deal expected to be completed over the weekend ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, which would make Fagnano a one-week emergency starter. Baltimore is not the only team handing its season to an untested arm: Philadelphia is set to give Joe Milton his first NFL start on Sunday. For the Ravens, the only good news on a soaked night is that help is already on the way.
