Devin Booker scored 30 points and handed out eight assists, and the Phoenix Suns snapped a four-game losing streak with a 117-104 win over the Orlando Magic on Thursday night at Mortgage Matchup Center.
Booker takes over the first half
Phoenix was playing its second game in two nights after a 132-119 loss to Portland on Wednesday, but Booker showed no signs of tired legs. He scored 23 of his 30 points before halftime, shooting his way past every defender Orlando sent at him. Dillon Brooks added support from the wing, and Luke Kennard gave the Suns a lift off the bench with 12 first half points. Phoenix led 33-26 after one quarter and 63-51 at the break. Wendell Carter Jr. kept Orlando close almost by himself, scoring inside and cleaning up the glass, but the Magic were already chasing the game.
The third quarter ends the argument
Any hope of a comeback died in the third quarter. Phoenix outscored Orlando 33-22 in the period, pushed the lead to 30 at its peak, and took a 96-73 advantage into the fourth. The Suns shot 17 of 34 from three-point range for the night, a clean 50 percent, and moved the ball for 30 assists. Brooks finished with 24 points, and Miles Bridges added 18 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Orlando’s defense, missing Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, could not stay in front of Booker or close out on the shooters he kept finding.
Orlando wastes a huge night on the glass
The strange part of this loss is that Orlando did plenty right. The Magic outrebounded Phoenix 61-38, Carter finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds on 10 of 12 shooting, and Franz Wagner ran the offense with 15 assists to go with his 15 points. Tristan da Silva scored 18 off the bench. But Orlando turned the ball over 25 times and made only 13 of 24 free throws, and those two numbers erased everything else. The Magic outscored Phoenix 31-21 in the fourth quarter to make the final margin respectable, yet the game had been decided long before that.

What it means
Phoenix improved to 2-5 and finally gave its home crowd a win to cheer, doing it with a lineup change at center, where Oso Ighodaro started in place of rookie Khaman Maluach. Booker has now scored 63 points across the two nights of this back-to-back, and the Suns need that level from him while Mark Williams recovers from shoulder surgery. Booker’s 30 was not even the biggest scoring night of the week out West, after Luka Doncic put up 40 in the Lakers’ win over Sacramento, but it was the one Phoenix had to have. Orlando fell to 2-6 with a third straight loss, and until Banchero and Suggs are back, nights like this one, where the effort is there and the mistakes pile up anyway, may keep repeating.
